 Introduction to Special Education

The Wexford-Missaukee Intermediate School District (WMISD) is dedicated to providing quality service to special needs students, their families, and local school districts in the greater Cadillac area.  Spanning over 2000 square miles in four counties, the WMISD provides services for seven local school districts.  The special education department operates 9 classroom programs, located in public school settings, for children with severe cognitive and emotional impairments.  Pre-primary impaired classroom programs and home-based services are available for children with significant delays age five and under.  Professional services available to students, families and schools within the ISD include, but not limited to:  School Psychology, Speech/Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Teacher Consultant services, and Social Work services.
